Colorado Parent Magazine's Family Favorites Winner for 5 years running!

OUR STORY

Master Degrees in Education prepared Corey & Elizabeth for the challenges they would face in the classroom, but it was their experience working as educators that opened their eyes to a much greater need within education. Years of experience working with students with different challenges and families with unique needs taught them an important lesson: Academic success is heavily dependent on the structures, routines, and supports that are provided both at school and at home. Parents are rightfully concerned about supporting their child’s success and are searching for effective guidance and support on how best to do so. The 'idea' for Hopkins Education Services was born from this need of parents to want MORE for their children.

With over twenty years of experience working as an educator in Colorado, Corey started Hopkins Education Services in September 2015. Joined by his partner, Elizabeth (who is also a Master teacher of over fifteen years), Hopkins Education Services is taking a new approach to education by focusing on a child's strengths and building upon them. Hopkins takes a compassionate approach to assessment, planning and goal development. They work differently from other education coaches because they integrate mindfulness and leadership training into their services to build confidence and success in their client's lives, empowering them. At Hopkins, this is the key to transforming potential into success.

In 2018, Hopkins launched their first summer camp, the Summer Explorers Program. This program has grown and evolved over the years, and was a favorite among clients year after year! While the summer program is currently on hold, we do hope to be bringing back summer programming in the future. Also in 2018, Hopkins Education Services was recognized as a Top 5 service provider for educational support in Colorado Parent Magazine. Hopkins has been voted #1 every year since then!

The pandemic caused a pivot to online/remote learning, and Hopkins was ready to respond. Within one week of schools closing during March 2020, the Hopkins team came up with their own "Liz and Corey in the Morning" show that they ran daily on Facebook Live for all their students to tune in and still feel connected to something familiar, proving structure and routines for children during a very uncertain time. By fall of 2020, as the uncertainty of in person learning loomed, Hopkins was right there, providing micro schooling or "pod learning' to small groups in backyards. Whatever challenges are around the next corner, Hopkins Ed will be here to help families navigate them every step of the way.

Allison Sampish

MA Education Curriculum and Instruction

Individualized Education Coach

As a kindergarten teacher for the past 16 years I always seek out hands-on learning activities. It is common find us playing games, working on literacy skills with magnetic letters or using Beebot Robots to practice our math skills. Games allow us to practice our skills but also explain our thinking. I have found these types of activities also can increase the engagement of all students and allow them to have fun as we learn! If I am not teaching than I am probably on a trip- I am a traveler! I love exploring new cities, going back to favorite places and finding a spot to try out my paddle board.

Tinesha Mix

M.A English Literature

Individualized Education Coach

A brief list of things I love: teaching, all things animals (dogs and sharks are currently tied at #1), destroying my opponents in board games, acting and stand-up comedy, reading, playing my saxophone horribly out-of-tune, and not knowing what movie I'm going to see at the theater until five minutes beforehand. A brief list of things I don't love: potatoes (I said what I said...) As a teacher, the best parts of my job are making kids laugh, watching students blossom over the years into young adults, seeing their confidence soar, creating projects, and sponsoring after-school clubs. My favorite relaxing and mindful activities include working out, journaling and creating gratitude lists, and drawing.

I am originally from New York and recently moved to Colorado. I am an avid snowboarder and outdoor enthusiast. I enjoy spending time with my family (including my 13-year-old dog), going for hikes, baking and reading. I worked in the Bronx for over ten years. Throughout the course of my teaching career, I had opportunities to teach diverse groups of students including those with learning disabilities, those who performed at grade level, and those who were gifted. My goal was to improve New York City children’s academic performance, health and wellness, attitude towards school, self-confidence, character and values, and opportunity for lifelong employment. I am passionate about unlocking the potential in young minds and helping them evolve into well - rounded, responsible, and successful individuals. My greatest strengths include inspiring and motivating students.

Kirk Johnson

I enjoy reading, writing and riding my bike. I love to learn and can usually be found with a podcast or an audiobook playing in my headphones. I have worked with kids for the last 15 years; as a summer camp counselor, a TA and as a teacher in both the general and special education settings. I am continually impressed and inspired by the creativity kids bring to their daily lives. Seeing what kids create and the joy it brings them is one of the best parts of teaching. I connect with kids through humor and through creating a bond of mutual respect. I let kids know that I see them as a whole person, with dreams and fears and goals that extend beyond learning their multiplication facts. I enjoy going on long walks without my phone and just letting my mind wander.
